Dr. Solomon Wallace Class of 2016 - 10th Anniversary Fund
Privacy policy
Last updated November 3, 2026
We collect only what we need to take your gift, keep its records and thank you for it. We never sell your information. Your card and bank details go straight to Stripe, not to us. We never share your mobile number or any text opt-in for marketing.
Who we are
This policy covers dsw2016.org, run by the DR SOLOMON WALLACE CLASS OF 2016 - 10TH ANNIVERSARY FUND (the "Fund") and its Class Committee. It explains what we collect, how we use it, who can see it and the choices you have.
This is the Fund's only privacy policy. It covers this site and our emails.
It also covers our text messages.
What we collect
- From the Class roster: your name and email address, so you can sign in.
- From you, for your gift and its recognition: the name you want printed on your certificate and in the journal. Your mailing address, and whether you want items mailed or presented. Your journal listing text. A phone number, if you give one. A dedication in honor or memory of someone, if you add one. How you want your name shown on the honor roll. Any note you send the Committee.
- About your gift: your pledge, plan, schedule, payments, any processing fee you chose to add, refunds and your recognition level and items.
- Your agreement to scheduled gifts: when you agreed, the IP address you used and the version of the terms.
- About your payment method, from Stripe: see Payment details.
- If you ask for access: your name, your email address and your note.
- Committee records: notes about your gift and a log of calls the Committee makes to you.
- Email records: which emails we sent you and whether each was delivered, bounced or marked as spam. We do not put tracking pixels in our emails or change their links to track clicks. For invitations, we note when you first use your invitation link and when you join, so the Committee knows who has joined.
- How you use the giving flow: we note steps such as signing in, opening the giving flow and submitting a payment, so we can find and fix steps that are hard to use. We do not use this for advertising.
- Change records: a log of every change to gift records, with who made it and when.
- Technical information: our hosting service keeps basic logs, such as the time of each visit and the IP address it came from.
- Texts, if you sign up for them: see Text messages.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep the site limited to the Class roster.
- To take your gift and charge your scheduled gifts.
- To send each Gift acknowledgment (not a tax receipt), reminders and notices about payment problems.
- To make, mail or present your recognition items, and to list you in the 2027 journal ad if your level includes it.
- To show the honor roll to signed-in Brothers, if the Committee turns it on, the way you chose.
- To match our records with Stripe and the Fund's bank.
- So the Committee can follow up with you about your pledge, by email or by phone.
- To keep the site safe and fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell, rent or trade it.
Who can see your information
- You see your own gift records when you sign in.
- Other Brothers see Class totals, not your amounts.
- If the Committee turns on the honor roll, signed-in Brothers can see it. It lists only Brothers who choose to be listed, by level, under their full name, their initials or as anonymous. It does not show amounts. If you add a dedication to your gift, the honoree's name and your message show with your listing unless you turn that off.
- The Committee members the Fund names as site admins can see all gift records. If the Committee names a finance reviewer, that person can read and export records but cannot change them.
- The technology contractor that helps the Committee run the site can see member information on the site only when a Committee admin opens a support session for a stated reason. A session lasts no more than 7 days, and the site logs every look. The contractor can also read the site's technical logs.
- The contractor also has view-only access to the Fund's Stripe account, which shows every payment. It uses that access only to help with payment problems, and the Committee reviews it after the launch period.
Your certificate carries the name you asked us to print. If your level includes a journal listing, that name and any short line you gave us appear in the 2027 journal ad, which others will see.
Text messages
Texts are optional. If you sign up on your profile, we keep:
- Your mobile number.
- When you signed up, the page you used and your IP address.
- The wording you agreed to.
- Your HELP and STOP replies, and when you opted out.
- Whether each text was delivered.
We text your mobile number only if you checked the text box. We send only the kinds of texts listed in our Text message terms: reminders about your scheduled gifts and notices about payment problems or an expiring card. The Committee may also call the phone number you gave us about your gift. We never use your number for marketing. Giving us a mobile number without checking the text box does not sign you up for texts.
We never sell, rent, trade or give away your mobile number or your consent to get texts. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Mobile information may be shared only with service providers that assist in delivering our services: our text message provider, which sends our texts, and the services listed above that store and host this site. They may use it only to provide those services to us.
Our Text message terms explain how texts work and how to stop them.
Payment details
When you pay, you type your card or bank details into a payment form that Stripe provides. The details go from your browser straight to Stripe. They never pass through or stay on our servers. Stripe is certified to the payment industry's highest security level (PCI Service Provider Level 1). Because we use Stripe's payment form, your card details never reach our site, and we follow the card industry's security rules (PCI DSS) for sites like ours.
We keep Stripe's reference codes for your payments and payment method. For a card, we also keep the card brand, the last 4 digits and the expiration month and year. If you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, we note which one. For a bank account, we keep at most the bank's name, the account type and the last 4 digits. We never see full card numbers or full bank account numbers.
If you connect a bank account instantly, you sign in to your bank on a Stripe screen, through a Stripe service called Financial Connections. That screen has its own terms from Stripe. Stripe gets your bank details from that screen. We never see your full account number, and we never keep your bank's routing number. We use what we keep only to set up and collect your bank debits. Only Stripe, the services that run this site and the people listed under Who can see your information can see it.
If your bank replaces your card, it may send Stripe the new card details, such as a new expiration date, so your scheduled gifts keep working.
We use Stripe for payments. Stripe may collect personal data, including your IP address and data from cookies and similar technologies. Stripe uses it to process payments, detect and prevent fraud, and run and improve its services, as its privacy policy explains. You can learn more about Stripe and read its privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards. The site uses HTTPS, so what you send is encrypted on the way. Sign-in uses emailed links and codes, not passwords. Each person sees only what their role allows. Committee changes to gift records are logged, and an admin must have signed in within the last 12 hours to make them.
No website or service is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be lost or misused. If a problem affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep records of pledges and payments for as long as the Committee needs them for the Fund's records. Records of any payment are not deleted while the campaign runs. We also keep backup copies for a limited time.
At closeout, the Committee keeps a full copy of the Fund's records for as long as its advisers recommend.
We keep your text opt-in and opt-out records for as long as we keep your gift records, so we can show that you agreed and honor your choice.
Your choices
- Update the name you want printed and your mailing address on the Profile tab of My gift, after you sign in. Name changes close at a deadline the Committee sets. For other changes, such as your phone number or how items reach you, email us.
- Choose how your name shows on the honor roll.
- Turn off milestone and announcement emails. Emails about your own gift, such as acknowledgments, reminders and payment notices, always go out.
- Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, at support@dsw2016.org.
- Ask us to remove details that are not part of your gift records, such as your phone number.
- Stop texts at any time by replying STOP. See Text message terms. If you ask us to remove your mobile number, we keep the record of your text consent and your opt-out, so we can show we honored it.
We cannot delete records of pledges and payments, because the Fund must keep them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. No change to this policy will let us sell your mobile number or share it for marketing.
No change will let us share your text opt-in for marketing either, and we will not send you a new kind of text without asking you first.
